The Lost City of Petra
If you are fond of traveling then you must visit the city of Petra. It is one of the seventh wonders but it is more than a wonder. It is an ancient city in the world due to which it is famous in archaeologist and attracts tourists all around the world. History of Petra City is 6000 years old. It is located in Jordan, 250 km from Amman capital and 120 km from the Red Sea and lies on Jabal Al-Madbah No one know about, how it begins but it settles in 9000 B.C. It was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom in 4000 B.C. which made it popular and rich through trade. It develops in the first century when its famous structure Al Khanzeh was constructed.
At this time its population is 20,000. It is become a client state of the Roman kingdom in the first century but become a part of the Roman Empire in 106 A.D. Most of part of the city destroyed in the fourth century due to an earthquake which ruins its trade. It becomes a desert and lost in history until 1812. In 1812 a Swiss explorer discovers it whose name Johann Ludwig Burckhard. It found rock city after a tight way of red rock of Jordan’s mountains. It knows as a Red Rose city due to these red mountains. In 2007 it becomes a wonder of the 7 new wonders of the world.
